The Physics of High-Shelf Storage and Gravity
Every wardrobe serves as a dynamic load-bearing system. Placing items on shelves above two metres alters the center of gravity of the entire furniture unit. If heavy items are stored at the absolute top, it increases the risk of tipping, particularly in free-standing wardrobes that are not anchored securely to the wall masonry. Structurally, the highest shelves should be reserved exclusively for low-density, lightweight items such as spare bedding, out-of-season clothing, or pillows.
When organising these items, gravity must work in your favour. Heavy objects require significant force to lift above shoulder level, which destabilises your stance.
