Choosing the Right File System for Universal Compatibility

Before utilizing a mini USB-C drive, you must align its underlying file system with your host operating systems. The drive's internal storage is partitioned into blocks, and the file system determines how data is indexed, stored, and retrieved. Selecting the wrong format can render the drive unreadable on certain devices or restrict individual file sizes.

  • exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table): This is the optimal standard for cross-platform file transfers. It is natively read and written by Windows, macOS, Android, and modern iPadOS systems. It supports individual files larger than 4 GB and manages storage blocks efficiently on flash memory.
